As far as we can tell, we're the only shop in Oceania that sells qizha – a secret Palestinian paste made from ground black seeds (i.e. nigella seeds) and ground sesame seeds.

Think of it as black tahini: a similar consistency and flavour, with similar uses, but more intense and – yes – more polarising.

Called "beguiling" and "extremely elusive" by a journalist from Vice who struggled to find it anywhere outside Nablus, it's really something you need to taste for yourself. Use it to make siniyyat al-qizha (as in the video below), or mix it with honey and enjoy it on its own.

Bayyāra was created in 2024 by Noor, a Palestinian from Gaza, and her husband Matt (from NZ).

We import Hebron ceramics, Nablus soap, extra virgin olive oil, traditional embroidery, and other Palestinian products.

Every purchase directly supports farmers & artisans in Palestine, and helps to preserve their cultural heritage.
